InstantPower Privacy Policy
Advance Systems Infrastructure Limited (RC 7371893) and its affiliates ("InstantPower", "the Company", "we", "us", or "our") operates the InstantPower platform, accessible via https://instantpower.com.ng, our web portal at https://app.instantpower.com.ng, and our mobile applications (collectively, the "Platform" or "Services").
This Privacy Policy describes our policies and practices regarding the collection, use, storage, protection, and disclosure of your personal information when you access or use our Platform to purchase electricity tokens, recharge utility meters, manage accounts, or interact with our services.
By accessing or using our Services, you signify that you have read, understood, and agree to the collection and use of your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy and our Terms of Use. If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use our Services.
1. Information We Collect
We collect several categories of information to provide, maintain, and improve our utility payment services:
A. Personal Information You Provide Directly
When registering an account, purchasing utility tokens, or contacting support, you may provide personally identifiable information, including your full name, email address, phone number, physical or billing address, and password. For corporate or merchant accounts, we may collect business registration details and tax identification numbers in compliance with regulatory know-your-customer (KYC) requirements.
B. Google User Data (Google Sign-In / OAuth 2.0)
When you choose to sign in or create an InstantPower account using Google Sign-In, we request your permission to access basic profile information from your Google account. This information is limited strictly to:
- Full Name: Used to personalize your InstantPower profile and communications.
- Email Address: Used as your unique account identifier, for login authentication, and to send electricity tokens, transaction receipts, and security alerts.
- Profile Picture / Avatar URL: Used solely to display your profile avatar in the application.
- Google Account ID: A unique numerical identifier used to securely authenticate your session across devices.
We do not request or access your Google contacts, Google Drive files, Gmail messages, calendar events, or any other private Google account data.
C. Utility and Transaction Data
To facilitate electricity bill payments and meter recharges, we collect meter numbers, account types (prepaid or postpaid), associated Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOs), transaction amounts, generated token codes, and transaction reference numbers. Payment card details are securely handled directly by PCI-DSS compliant payment gateways (such as Paystack); InstantPower does not store your complete debit/credit card numbers or CVV.
D. Device and Technical Usage Data (Log Data)
When you access our Services via a browser or mobile device, our servers automatically record information including your Internet Protocol (IP) address, mobile device unique identifier, device model, operating system version, browser type, access times, and crash logs to ensure platform stability and security.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following legitimate business purposes:
- Account Authentication and Management: To verify your identity, manage your account registration (including authentication via Google Sign-In), and keep your account secure.
- Order Processing & Token Delivery: To validate meter numbers with respective Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOs), process payments, generate electricity tokens, and deliver tokens instantaneously via SMS, email, or in-app notifications.
- Customer Support & Service Communications: To respond to customer service inquiries, resolve transaction disputes, send purchase receipts, and notify you of critical service updates.
- Security and Fraud Prevention: To monitor for suspicious or fraudulent transactions, protect the integrity of our financial infrastructure, and ensure system uptime.
- Regulatory Compliance: To comply with relevant laws, including Nigerian Data Protection Regulation (NDPR) and Central Bank of Nigeria Anti-Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) regulations.
3. Google API Services User Data Policy & Limited Use Disclosure
InstantPower complies strictly with the Google API Services User Data Policy for all user information accessed through Google OAuth and Google APIs:
InstantPower's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
In accordance with Google's Limited Use requirements:
- No Sale of Google User Data: We do not sell, rent, or trade your Google user data to third parties, data brokers, or marketing entities under any circumstances.
- No Advertising Use: We do not use or transfer your Google user data for serving personalized, retargeted, or interest-based advertisements.
- No Transfer Except for Core App Functionality: We only transfer data to third parties when strictly necessary to provide or improve user-facing features that are prominent in the InstantPower user interface, or to comply with applicable laws.
- No Generalized AI/ML Training: We do not use Google user data to train generalized artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML) models.
- Human Access Restrictions: Human beings are prohibited from reading your Google user data unless you have given explicit consent for troubleshooting, it is required for security purposes, or we are compelled to do so by applicable law.
4. Sharing and Disclosure of Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share your information only with trusted parties under strict confidentiality and security safeguards:
- Electricity Distribution Companies (DISCOs): We share meter numbers and payment details with authorized electricity distribution companies (such as AEDC, EKEDC, IBEDC, IKEDC, JED, KAEDCO, KEDCO, PHED, EEDC, BEDC, etc.) solely to validate meters and issue electricity recharge tokens.
- Licensed Payment Processors: We partner with licensed, PCI-DSS compliant payment gateways (such as Paystack) to securely process financial transactions.
- Communication Service Providers: We work with trusted SMS and transactional email service providers strictly to deliver token vouchers and transaction notifications.
- Legal and Regulatory Authorities: We may disclose information when mandated by court order, statutory financial regulation, or to protect against illegal activities or fraud.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your InstantPower account remains active or as needed to provide you with our Services. Financial transaction logs (such as meter numbers, purchase amounts, and tokens issued) are retained in accordance with Nigerian statutory financial record-keeping and auditing regulations.
When your personal data is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was collected or required by legal obligations, it will be securely deleted or anonymized.
6. Your Rights, Data Deletion, and Revoking Permissions
Under applicable data protection laws (including the Nigeria Data Protection Act / NDPR), you have the right to access, review, modify, or request the deletion of your personal information.
How to Request Account & Data Deletion
You may request the deletion of your InstantPower account and all associated personal data at any time through either of the following methods:
- In-App: Navigate to Account Settings > Profile > Delete Account inside the InstantPower mobile or web app.
- By Email: Send a written deletion request to our support team at support@instantpower.com.ng from the email address associated with your account.
Upon confirmation, we will permanently delete or anonymize your personal profile data within thirty (30) days, retaining only those transaction records required by law for auditing and tax compliance.
How to Revoke Google Sign-In Permissions
If you signed up or logged in using Google, you can disconnect and revoke InstantPower's access to your Google account at any time by visiting your Google Account Security settings at https://myaccount.google.com/permissions, selecting "InstantPower", and clicking "Remove Access".
7. How We Store and Protect Your Information
We implement robust, industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect your personal data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:
- Enforced TLS/HTTPS encryption for all data transmitted between your device and our servers.
- Encrypted databases with restricted, role-based access controls for all sensitive data stored at rest.
- Continuous security monitoring, logging, and vulnerability assessments.
While we maintain rigorous safeguards, no electronic transmission over the internet or storage system is 100% impenetrable. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password and maintain the confidentiality of your login credentials.
8. Cookies and Tracking Technologies
We use cookies and similar session management technologies to maintain your logged-in session, remember user preferences, and analyze platform performance. You may configure your browser to reject cookies, though some features of the platform may not function optimally without essential cookies.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our operational practices, technologies, or regulatory requirements. Any revisions will be posted on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this page periodically. Continued use of the Platform after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
